Dr. Jones is a literacy specialist and a national LETRS trainer. She has experience teaching students in the elementary and middle school grades, as well as adult education. She began her career in literacy instruction as an instructional paraprofessional for several early childhood education classes, and she later served as an instructional specialist for literacy in an elementary school. Her previous experiences include teaching English as a Foreign Language in South Korea, Germany, and Japan.

Dr. Jones's passion for literacy began to grow when she homeschooled her three children while her family lived in Japan. Her desire to help her children overcome a reluctance toward reading and a delay in language development inspired her to further her understanding of literacy strategies and best practices. With over sixteen years of diverse educational experiences, she is still excited about learning new strategies and using her knowledge to collaborate with educators, parents, and students.
Dr. Jones is a lifelong learner who enjoys traveling with her family and observing nature. She continues to study current articles and books about structured literacy and the science of reading. She also published a children's book, I Don't Want Two Brothers, with her daughter, Lisa, the co-author and illustrator.
